A Final (REALLY GOOD) Update to Fairfield Lake State Park for the Week
There's light at the end of the tunnel.
The TPWD Commissioners met this morning to discuss a few last things on their agenda, including FLSP. After 1 hour and 40 minutes in an Executive Session they came back to discuss the agenda item and talk about public comments.
The Motion:
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission authorizes the Executive Director to take all necessary steps to acquire approximately 5,000 acres of land in Freestone County, including and as an addition to Fairfield Lake State Park.”
488 citizens submitted responses in support
71 citizens submitted responses in opposition
All commissioners voted in support of the motion and the motion carried.
The commission will have a special meeting the week of June 5-9 to discuss legal issues regarding this. I am unsure if this will be available to the public or not.
This is really good news!
Let’s hope in a few weeks we have more official news on the final status of the state officially owning Fairfield Lake State Park, with additional land!
Thank you to everyone who submitted comments and have shared my posts here about the plight of the park the last few months.
And that’s it from me this week—I’ll be back in June!
